"BONDRU FU KONI MEKI KONI E PANYA LEKI SIRI | GATHER KNOWLEDGE AND SPREAD IT LIKE SEEDS
For my effect for the @theconspiracyball the people from @tailorsandwearers gave me their specially printed fabric with this message on there. And I took it as a challenge; how will I educate and tell a story on the runway?
You can look at the full explanation at my highlights (not a single bit of this effect is without meaning and intention!) but I wanna say what an honor it was to do this at your ball @typhoonangels & @thealienaire. I got to honor my enslaved ancestors by showing my body with what they had to use to cover themselves. The story of the Koto and Angisa (clothing and headress) is so fascinating and you can find it in Tailors and Wearers book (all the Angisa’s have a message for example, which was a way the enslaved communicated) and everytime we Surinamese people wear its modernized versions, we are celebrating our freedom. I wanna thank @yuribaloe @mel.opti, @shinkusara (my sibby in my moms fabric) @mies.mp4 @raezor_beam and @roberto.angels for helping me celebrate that freedom. (@the__zaza__zone I felt your support even from far away!💕 ily sis!!) And to everyone who walked that runway; You are celebrating your freedom! Never forget that!
